SEARCY - The Harding volleyball team rebounded after a set one loss to defeat Arkansas Tech for a 3-1 (18-25, 25-12, 25-15, 25-18) on Thursday in Great American Conference play at Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
The Lady Bisons are now 13-3 overall and 4-1 in the GAC.
Arkansas Tech falls to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in the GAC.
The team's offensive surge was spearheaded by Ella Drake, who tallied a match-high 15 kills while hitting .344. Middle blockers Rauly Eason and Philomina Klotz each posted 10 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Eason also led the team with five total blocks (one solo, four assisted). Setter Olivia Wiedower orchestrated the attack with 38 assists.
· Set 1 (Arkansas Tech 25, Harding 18): Arkansas Tech controlled the opener. Down 8-7, the Golden Suns went on a 6-1 run to take a 13-9 and didn't look back. Arkansas Tech had 13 kills and hit .250 in the set.
· Set 2 (Harding 25, Arkansas Tech 12): Tied at five, Harding flipped the switch on an 8-2 run on six kills. Up 17-12, Harding went on an 8-0 run behind Josie Bishop service to win the set. Harding had 15 kills and hit .342 in the set.
· Set 3 (Harding 25, Arkansas Tech 15): Harding's efficiency continued into the third set as they hit .324. Trailing 6-5, the Lady Bisons went on a 7-1 run on four kills to lead 12-7. Leading 16-11, Harding closed the set on a 9-4 run on five kills to win the set.
· Set 4 (Harding 25, Arkansas Tech 18): Tied at three, Harding went on a 11-1 run on six kills to lead 14-4. Arkansas Tech didn't get any closer than five the rest of the way. Harding had 13 kills in the set.
Defensively, libero Maddie Burrough led the effort with a match-high 19 digs. Harding finished with 12 service aces as a team, compared to just six for Arkansas Tech.
The Lady Bisons will be back in action next weekend when it hosts Oklahoma Baptist Friday at 4 p.m. and Southern Nazarene Saturday at 1 p.m.
