Eason’s Season-Best 17 Kills Power Harding Past Southeastern Oklahoma

SEARCY, Ark. — The Harding volleyball team rallied after dropping the third set to defeat Southeastern Oklahoma 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 15-25, 25-17) in Great American Conference action Friday at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

The win improves Harding's overall record to 18-4 and their GAC mark to 9-2.

Rauly Eason powered the offense with a season-high 17 kills on an efficient .351 hitting percentage. Josie Bishop captured a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs. Setter Olivia Wiedower conducted the attack with 37 assists and contributed two service aces. Philomina Klotz and Eason were active at the net. Klotz had five blocks and Eason had four. Maddie Burrough anchored the defense with 17 digs. Carter Fouche added 11 digs.

Southeastern Oklahoma (7-16, 2-9 GAC) was paced by Jaedyn Newman's 10 kills, while setter Jasmin Dion tallied 27 assists and 14 digs. Merrick Hammel had 32 digs for the Savage Storm.

Set 1 (Harding 25, Southeastern Okla. 17): Harding established an early rhythm, opening the set with a 9-4 lead on nine kills. Southeastern Oklahoma pulled within two 9-7 but never got any closer as the Lady Bisons went on to win 25-17. Harding had 16 kills in the set.

Set 2 (Harding 25, Southeastern Okla. 20): The second frame featured more back-and-forth action with seven ties. Trailing 5-3, Harding went on a 7-2 run on three kills to lead 10-7. The Savage Storm battled back to take a 13-11 lead before Harding went on another 5-1 run on three kills to lead 16-14. Up 21-20, Harding went on a 4-0 run on three kills to win 25-20. Harding had 14 kills in the set and forced seven Southeastern Oklahoma attack errors.

Set 3 (Southeastern Okla. 25, Harding 15): The Savage Storm came out determined in the third set, seizing control early with a 11-2 lead. Harding battled back to cut the lead to four but couldn't overcome the deficit as Southeastern Oklahoma won 25-15. The Savage Storm had 12 kills in the set.

Set 4 (Harding 25, Southeastern Okla. 17): Harding immediately regrouped to take control of the fourth set. Harding took a 16-6 lead on 10 kills. Southeastern Oklahoma rallied late but it wasn't enough as Harding won 25-17.

Harding will be back in action Thursday when it takes on Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m., in Monticello, Arkansas.
