RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — The Harding volleyball team displayed poise and resilience Thursday night, battling back from a first set loss to defeat Arkansas Tech 3-2 (13-25, 25-19, 25-14, 19-25, 15-12) in a five-set Great American Conference thriller at Tucker Coliseum.
It was Harding's seventh straight victory as the Lady Bisons improve to 23-4 overall and 14-2 in Great American Conference play, while Arkansas Tech falls to 15-11 and 11-5 in the GAC. With the win, Harding sealed the No. 2 seed in next week's Great American Conference Tournament in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The Lady Bisons will take on No. 7 seed Henderson State at 12:30 p.m., in the first round.
Harding's comeback was driven by a balanced offensive attack with three players reaching double-digit kills.
- Outside hitter Josie Bishop led the Lady Bisons with 15 kills, adding 10 digs for a double-double.
- Middle Blocker Rauly Eason provided efficient firepower, hitting a team-best .346 with 10 kills and contributing five blocks.
- Middle Blocker Philomina Klotz was a defensive wall at the net, leading the team with a solo block and seven block assists. She also added 9 kills.
- Ella Drake added 10 kills and 4 block assists.
- Setter Olivia Wiedower guided the offense with 41 assists.
- Libero Maddie Burrough anchored the defense with a team-high 17 digs.
Set 1 (Arkansas Tech 25, Harding 13)
The Golden Suns took immediate control, hitting .237 while forcing eight Harding attack errors. Tech jumped out to a 6-1 lead, fueled by three straight kills. A timeout at 12-4 failed to slow the Suns, who extended their lead to 13-4. Tech sealed the dominant frame 25-13 on an Erika Hernandez kill.
Set 2 (Harding 25,Arkansas Tech 19)
Harding found its offensive groove, hitting .219 for the set. An early service ace from Avery Stanfill gave the Lady Bisons a 2-0 lead. Trailing 18-15, Harding went on a 10-1 run on four blocks to close out the set, winning 25-19.
Set 3 (Harding 25, Arkansas Tech 14)
Trailing 5-4, Wiedower delivered a 6-0 scoring run on her serve, sparked by three straight kills from Ella Drake and forcing a Tech timeout. Harding's defense continued to apply pressure as Klotz recorded a solo block and Drake added a service ace for a massive 16-8 lead. Leading 22-14, Harding won the next three points on a kill, ace and block to win 25-14. The Lady Bisons hit a match-best .355 with only four errors in the set.
Set 4 (Arkansas Tech 25, Harding 19)
Arkansas Tech responded, hitting .324 to force the decider. The set stayed close with the set tied eight times until the Golden Suns rallied. Leading 20-19, Arkansas Tech went on a 5-0 run to win the set 25-19.
Set 5 (Harding 15, Arkansas Tech 12)
Harding jumped out early, taking a 6-2 lead. Trailing 8-4, Arkansas Tech battled back to tie the set at 12 on a kill by Henley Hooks. Three straight Harding kills gave the Lady Bisons the set and victory. The Lady Bisons held the Golden Suns to hitting .071 in the set and forced four attack errors. Harding had 10 kills in the set.
