Zarate Valdez Earns 13th Singles Win, but Harding Loses 4-1

TYLER, Texas (AP) — Fourteenth-ranked Alexia Zarate Valdez delivered a standout performance for Harding, defeating 26th-ranked Anastasiia Opolska of Lubbock Christian 6-2, 6-3 in No. 1 singles action on Monday.

The victory marked Zarate Valdez's team-leading 13th singles win of the season, her fourth consecutive singles triumph, and her first win this season over a nationally ranked opponent.

However, Lubbock Christian took the team victory, defeating Harding 4-1.

The Lady Chaps secured the doubles point, taking two of the three matches. They then won four of the six singles matches, with Mariia Koroleva, AnaMaria Zoric, and Oshini Herath all earning victories.

With the loss, Harding fell to 4-5 on the season, while Lubbock Christian improved to 8-4.

The Lady Bisons will look to bounce back on Friday, Feb. 28, when they host Nebraska-Kearney in Searcy.
