Softball Blanks East Central Sunday to Sweep Series

ADA, Okla. — Avery Booker tossed a five-hit shutout, guiding the 15th-ranked Harding softball team to a 2-0 Great American Conference victory over East Central on Sunday.

With Saturday's results, the Lady Bisons completed the series sweep. Harding has now won its last 11 games and has swept three GAC series.

Booker (8-0) struck out four and walked one, helping the Lady Bisons (25-3, 13-1) secure their 13th conference win. It was her second complete game and her second shutout of the season.

Harding scored single runs in the second and fifth innings. In the second, Emma Curry doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bailey Willis. In the fifth, Brooke Johnson walked, got to second on a sacrifice bunt then stole third and scored on an RBI single by Riley Price.

East Central (12-13, 5-9) threatened in the sixth, but Booker worked out of a two-on, two-out jam, striking out Shayne Roberts to end the inning.

The Tigers were limited to five hits and no extra base hits.

Brooklyn Charnock (1-3) took the loss for East Central, allowing two earned runs on seven hits. She struck out two and walked two.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action at home on Tuesday when it faces Union in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
