Harding Men's Golf Wins Shadow Valley Invitational

ROGERS, Ark. — The 21st-ranked Harding men's golf team captured its first tournament victory of the season, winning the shortened 36-hole Shadow Valley Invitational at Shadow Valley Country Club.

Heavy rain forced the tournament to be reduced from 54 holes, but Harding persevered, finishing with a 24-over 600 to claim the title. Arkansas Tech placed second at 28 over, while Henderson State took third at 29 over.

Harding's Jose Manuel Peralta, ranked 85th nationally in Division II, dominated the field, winning the tournament by six strokes with a 4-under 140. The junior from Madrid, Spain, secured his first collegiate victory in 25 career tournaments.

Peralta's performance included eight birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 502-yard hole 3 in the first round. He averaged 4 under on par 4s, leading the tournament.

Teammate Jose Arzu secured a seventh-place finish, his first top-10 finish this season, with a 6-over 150.

Harding will return to action on March 24-25 at the Arkansas Collegiate, hosted by Southern Arkansas at Mystic Creek Golf Course in El Dorado, Arkansas.
