ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – For the second straight week, the 16th-ranked Harding softball team swept its Great American Conference series. The Lady Bisons defeated Henderson State 5-3 Saturday.
Harding took an early lead with two runs in the second inning, sparked by singles from Emma Curry and Cameron Timmons. The Lady Bisons added to their lead with a run in the third and another in the fourth.
Henderson State made it 5-3 with a two-run homer from Brooke Johnson in the sixth.
Harding starter Avery Booker pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits to improve to 7-0 on the season. Brooke Gobble earned her second save, pitching two scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts.
With the win, Harding improves to 20-3 overall and 8-1 in the Great American Conference. The Lady Bisons have now won six consecutive games after sweeping Ouachita Baptist last weekend. Henderson State fell to 12-7 and 4-5 in conference play.
Harding will be back in action Tuesday when it hosts Arkansas Tech in a GAC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
