SEARCY, Ark. – The No. 15 Harding men's tennis team defeated Newman 6-1 on Friday in a nonconference match at the Elliott Tennis Complex. Harding improved to 13-5 on the season.
Harding swept the doubles competition to take an early 1-0 lead. The No. 26-ranked team of Cas de Ruiter and Adrian Solorzano defeated Ali Mounir and Nicolo Lippolis 6-1. Florian Gayme and Cian Mikkelsen defeated Andrea Bramati and Pavel Vysotin 6-3, and Luis Agullo and Hunter DeMunbrun defeated Enrico Belardo and David Javadov 6-2. de Ruiter and Solorzano secured their seventh straight doubles victory with the win.
In singles competition, Harding won five of the six matches. No. 16 Adrian Solorzano defeated Pavel Vysotin 6-1, 6-3, and Cian Mikkelsen defeated Nicolo Lippolis 6-4, 6-1. Caleb Folse defeated Andrea Bramati 6-3, 6-0, No. 74 Luis Agullo defeated David Javadov 6-3, 6-0, marking his seventh straight singles win, and Florian Gayme defeated Andra Torrini 6-4, 6-3. Newman's Ali Mounir, however, defeated No. 9 Cas de Ruiter 7-6 (7-3), 5-7, 10-8.
The match lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Harding's next match is Wednesday at 11 a.m. at home against Emporia State. It will be Harding's final home match of the regular season.
