BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Southeastern Oklahoma defeated Harding 4-2 on Friday in the semifinals of the Great American Conference Tournament, ending Harding's season.
Southeastern Oklahoma (15-5) took an early lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. The No. 30-ranked team of Carol Mora Camacho and Jou Chen Chen defeated Harding's Karli Roux and Alexia Zarate Valdez 6-4. Tania Sfilio and Sara Gonzalez of Southeastern Oklahoma defeated Harding's Natalia Alvarez and Itza Rogel 6-0. The No. 3 doubles match between Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz and Madison Stafford of Harding, and Emilse Ruiz and Amishi Shukla of Southeastern Oklahoma, was unfinished with the score 4-5.
In singles competition, No. 12 Alexia Zarate Valdez and No. 47 Karli Roux earned wins for Harding. Zarate Valdez defeated Carol Mora Camacho 6-4, 6-3, and Roux defeated Milana Voloshyn 6-4, 6-1. However, Southeastern Oklahoma secured the four points needed to win the match. Larissa Giraldo Correa defeated Itza Rogel 6-1, 6-0. Sara Gonzalez defeated Natalia Alvarez 6-1, 6-2, and Amishi Shukla defeated Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-3. The singles match between Madison Stafford of Harding and Emilse Ruiz of Southeastern Oklahoma was unfinished, 3-6, 6-3, 3-5.
