BETHANY, Okla. — The Harding women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 straight-set loss to Southern Nazarene on Friday afternoon at the Sawyer Center in Great American Conference action.
Southern Nazarene took the match 25-14, 27-25, 25-17.
With the setback, Harding fell to 14-4 overall and 4-3 in Great American Conference play, while Southern Nazarene improved to 12-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Lady Bisons struggled to establish rhythm offensively against a Crimson Storm defense. Harding registered eight kills against eight attack errors on 48 total attempts in the opening frame. Southern Nazarene pulled away early with a 15-kill opening set performance to set the pace and capture set one 25-14.
Harding continued to battle in the second set, but Southern Nazarene maintained control at the net to seal a 27-25 set victory and extend its match lead to 2-0. The Crimson Storm then closed out the sweep with a 25-17 decision in the third frame.
Ella Drake led Harding with eight kills. Mallory Weyand led the defense with 14 digs.
Southern Nazarene hit .317 and held Harding to hitting .086.
Harding will be back in action Thursday when it hosts Northwestern Oklahoma at 6 p.m., at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
