SEARCY, Ark. — First-half goals from Bree Williamson and Kloey Fullerton propelled the Harding women's soccer team to a 2-0 Great American Conference victory over Ouachita Baptist on Wednesday afternoon at the Stevens Soccer Complex.
With the win, the Lady Bisons improved to 6-4-1 overall and 5-1-0 in GAC play. Ouachita Baptist fell to 3-5-4 overall and 3-1-2 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harding took control early in the opening half, striking first in the 18th minute. Kloey Fullerton and Mykala Ulrich combined to feed Williamson, who finished a cross from the right into the back of the net to give the Lady Bisons a 1-0 advantage at 17:31. It marked Williamson's second goal of the season.
The Lady Bisons doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Gabie Eddins delivered a cross from the left side to Fullerton, who buried a one-touch strike into the net at 30:59 for her first goal of the year.
Harding outshot the Tigers 8-2 in the opening 45 minutes to hold a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Ouachita Baptist applied pressure, attempting 10 shots. However, goalkeeper Maysa Willis and the Lady Bison defense stood firm. Willis recorded three second-half saves to get the clean sheet.
STATS OF THE MATCH
· Harding edged Ouachita Baptist in overall shots, 13-12, and shots on target, 4-3.
· Williamson led all Lady Bisons with five shots.
· Fullerton finished with three points on the day, posting one goal and one assist.
· Willis spent all 90 minutes in goal, registering three saves.
· The Lady Bisons earned three corner kicks to Ouachita Baptist's one.
