RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Following a historic performance that saw him reset the program standard in the long jump, Harding senior Anton Kopytko has been named the Great American Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
A native of Dnipro, Ukraine, Kopytko turned in a career-best performance at the Pittsburg State Invitational this past weekend. His top attempt of 7.49 meters (24-07) earned him a second-place finish in a massive field, notably finishing as the top non-Division I competitor in the event.
The mark officially broke Kopytko's own school record of 24-06.50 set during the 2025 season.
With this jump, Kopytko secured an NCAA provisional mark and currently ranks first in the GAC and fifth nationally in Division II. His performance was a key factor in the Bisons' climb to No. 9 in the latest USTFCCCA National Track & Field Rating Index.
Sophomore sprinter Caledon Ruwende was also nominated for Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 200-meter dash in 21.26 seconds and placing sixth in the 60-meter dash finals.
The Bisons return to action this Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Wooo Pig Classic hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
