Harding Softball Sweeps Saturday Behind Dramatic Finish and Three Home Runs

SEARCY, Ark. — The Harding softball team used a power display and a dramatic walk-off finish to sweep a Saturday's contests, defeating Texas Woman's 3-2 and Emporia State 8-4 on the second day of the Alvy Early Softball Classic at the HU Softball Field.

The two victories move the Lady Bisons to 4-2 on the season.

Game 1: Harding 3, Texas Woman's 2

Lana Danielson provided the early spark for Harding, launching a solo home run to deep center field in the second inning. The Lady Bisons extended the lead to 2-0 in the fourth when Baylee McGregor doubled to right-center, scoring Bailey Robinson.

The Pioneers rallied in the top of the seventh, using a double from Tamia Cherry and an RBI single from Madison Lux to tie the game at 2-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Harding loaded the bases after a walk by Payton Alexander, a single by Tori Turner, and a walk by Zoey Neal. Ella Friederich then delivered the game-winner, reaching on a fielder's choice to shortstop that allowed Alexander to slide home for the walk-off win.

Avery Booker pitched 6.1 strong innings, while Brooklyn Gobble came on in relief to record the final two outs and earn the save.

Game 2: Harding 8, Emporia State 4

Harding's bats exploded early in the second game, scoring four runs in the first inning on two-run home runs from both Ella Friederich and Lana Danielson. For Danielson, it was her second home run of the afternoon.

Zoey Neal added to the home run parade in the fourth inning with a two-run blast to right field, pushing the Harding lead to 7-1. Bailey Robinson, who finished the game 3-for-4, added an RBI single in the sixth to score Brynley Jennings.

Emporia State attempted a late rally with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, but relief pitcher Brooklyn Gobble induced a foul out to first base to end the threat and secure the sweep.

Brooklyn Gobble got the win in the circle for Harding.
