WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Facing its second nationally ranked opponent in three days, the Harding women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 12 Midwestern State on Friday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Lady Bisons (2-6) struggled to find footing against a deep Mustangs squad that currently features the No. 3-ranked singles player in Division II.
Mustangs Sweep Doubles
Midwestern State (8-4) took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. In the marquee matchup at the No. 1 flight, Harding's No. 4-ranked duo of Karli Roux and Brooke Coffman faced a tough test against Selin Sepken and Emilia Gyorgy. The Mustangs pair proved too strong on their home courts, handing the Lady Bisons' top duo a 6-2 defeat.
MSU clinched the point with a 6-1 win at No. 2 and a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Singles Play
The Mustangs moved quickly in singles to reach the four points required to clinch the dual. Because the match was played under clinch format, several matches remained unfinished once the team result was decided.
Midwestern State earned straight-set victories at the No. 5, No. 3, and No. 2 positions. Emilia Gyorgy secured the clinching point for MSU at the No. 2 spot, defeating Harding's Natalia Alvarez 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3, Brooke Coffman fell 6-0, 6-1 to Camila Garcia Morales.
In the unfinished matches, senior Karli Roux was locked in a battle with No. 3-ranked Selin Sepken. After dropping the first set 6-1, Roux was trailing 2-1 in the second when play was halted. Mia Hosking (No. 4) and Paula Rega (No. 6) also had their matches cut short in the second set.

Harding concludes its grueling week of ranked matchups tomorrow morning. The Lady Bisons travel to Edmond, Oklahoma, to face No. 5 Washburn. First serve is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
