ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – While their indoor counterparts were securing a top-10 national finish in Virginia, the Harding Bisons continued their outdoor season Saturday at the Ouachita Baptist Invitational. Behind a dominant sprinting performance from senior Donald Nwamere and a victory in the shot put from freshman Kameron Kauffman, the Bisons utilized their second outdoor meet of the year to showcase their depth.
Sprints and Hurdles
Senior Donald Nwamere provided the highlight on the track, capturing the individual title in the 100-meter dash. Nwamere crossed the line in 10.74 seconds, leading a 1-7 Harding finish in the event as fellow senior Jaxon Hardy placed seventh in 11.03.
The duo returned later in the afternoon for the 200-meter dash, both securing top-10 finishes in a fast field. Nwamere placed fifth in 21.83, followed immediately by Hardy in sixth at 21.89.
Freshman Tyson Waters also impressed in the hurdles, earning a runner-up finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.53. On the longer hurdle circuit, freshman Michael Supratman placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 56.70.
Throws and Jumps
Freshman Kameron Kauffman led the way for the Bison throwers, winning the shot put with a final toss of 14.50m (47-07.00). Kauffman also added a fifth-place finish in the discus with a mark of 44.78m (146-11).
In the discus ring, freshman Greyson Hatfield earned a podium spot, placing third with a throw of 46.37m (152-01). Junior Tytus Daugherty added to the scoring in the shot put, finishing eighth with a best mark of 12.98m (42-07.00).
Over at the pole vault pit, freshman Hutson Davis cleared 4.50m (14-09.00) to finish third, while junior Chad Strickland placed fifth with a clearance of 4.20m (13-09.25).
Distance and Relays
Harding's distance squad saw Grayson Hall lead the way in the 1,500 meters, finishing 17th in 4:19.31. In the 5,000 meters, senior Tucker Allen posted a top-15 finish with a time of 16:08.25, while Adam DeMaria followed in 16:58.21.
The Bisons' 4x100-meter relay team of Hardy, Supratman, Waters, and Devin Harding combined for a sixth-place finish, crossing the line in 43.13.
