Nine and Counting: Gobble’s Shutout Leads Harding to Series Sweep

DURANT, Okla. – Senior Brooklyn Gobble tossed a six-hit shutout and the Harding offense struck early to secure a series sweep with a 7-0 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday.

The win extends Harding's (17-12, 12-3 GAC) winning streak to nine games.

Harding set the tone in the first inning, plating two runs. Tori Turner sparked the rally with a single down the right-field line and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Ella Friederich. Lana Danielson added an RBI single through the left side to score Bailey Robinson, who had reached on an error.

The Lady Bisons broke the game open in the third with a four-run outburst. After Turner was hit by a pitch and Robinson reached on another error, Zoey Neal lined a two-run single up the middle to double the lead. Alexis Boswell followed with a bases-loaded walk, and Bailey Willis drove in the final run of the frame with a fielder's choice to make it 6-0.

Harding added an insurance run in the fourth when Robinson reached on an error and scored on Friederich's second sacrifice fly of the afternoon.

While the offense provided plenty of cushion, Gobble (10-8) was in total control in the circle. She scattered six hits over seven scoreless innings, striking out eight and walking none. Southeastern (12-19, 6-9 GAC) threatened in the third when Anley Hewitt singled, but Gobble induced an inning-ending double play to escape.
