EMPORIA, Kan. — Senior Savian Bush punched his ticket to Saturday's national final in the 110-meter hurdles, while sophomore Caledon Ruwende wrapped up his breakout season with All-America honors as the No. 9-ranked Harding men's track and field team completed the second day of the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Welch Stadium.
After two days of competition, the Bisons sit in 12th place in the national team standings with eight points, courtesy of Anton Kopytko's historic second-place finish in the long jump on Thursday.
Bush Automatic to Saturday's Finals
Senior Savian Bush, a native of Tatum, Texas, put on a veteran display in the 110-meter hurdles preliminary rounds. Competing in his second outdoor national championship—having previously placed third in the nation in 2024—Bush automatically qualified for the final by placing second in the second heat.
Clocking in at 13.85 seconds, Bush posted the fourth-fastest time overall among the preliminary fields. Bush is hunting for another podium finish to add to his career accolades, entering Saturday's final at 4:15 p.m. as one of the premier hurdlers in Division II.
Ruwende Earns All-America Recognition
Sophomore Caledon Ruwende, making his national championship debut, represented the Bisons in the 200-meter dash. The Norton, Zimbabwe native placed 15th overall, crossing the line in 21.15 seconds.
Ruwende's top-15 performance earned him Second Team All-America honors, capping off a remarkable season that saw him clock an outdoor personal best of 20.66 seconds at the Arkansas Twilight. His 15th-place finish in the 200 meters was the best ever by a Bison at outdoor nationals.
Day 3 Preview: Title Hunting Saturday
The final day of the championships will be a massive point-scoring opportunity for the Bisons, with five athletes set to compete in national finals.
