AT HARDING
Ty Powell is in his third season in Harding strength and conditioning in 2020. In each of his first two seasons, Harding has reached the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

BEFORE HARDING
Powell is a veteran NFL linebacker and Division II All-American. He comes to Harding from the University of North Texas where he served as assistant strength and conditioning coach working with football during the 2017-18 season after implementing strength and conditioning programs in men’s and women’s sports including football, softball, women’s diving and women’s tennis during the 2016-17 school year.

PLAYING CAREER
Powell played two seasons at Harding, where he had 40 tackles, including 15.0 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. At the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine, Powell scoring in the top 10 among defensive linemen in five of the six categories, and NFL.com recognized him as a “Top Performer.”

Selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2013 NFL Draft, Powell earned a spot on the Seahawks practice squad to begin the regular season. The Buffalo Bills signed Powell, and he played three seasons with the team on special teams and at linebacker. Powell was twice recognized by the Bills as their Special Teams Player of the Game.

EDUCATION
Powell is a graduate of Harding University and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a certified coach by USA Weightlifting.
