Stephen Burks

Stephen Burks

AT HARDING
Dr. Stephen Burks is in his 17th year as Harding's Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR). He assumed the role prior to the 2009-10 academic year. In this capacity, he serves as a liaison between the university's faculty and the athletic department, ensuring academic integrity and student-athlete welfare.

Burks is the chairman of the Kinesiology Department and has been a professor of Kinesiology since 1997. He previously served as Harding's wellness program coordinator for six years (2004-2010).

From 1997-2004, Burks served as Harding's assistant women's basketball coach.

PRIOR TO HARDING
Before joining the Harding faculty, Burks taught and coached at Jackson Christian School in Jackson, Tennessee, from 1995-97.

EDUCATION
Burks earned his Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from Harding in 1994. He received his Master of Education in 1995 from Harding and his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) in 2007.

FAMILY
Burks is married to the former Jeanne Isom of Searcy, Arkansas. The couple has three children—Madison, Kaley, and Caden.
