Hunter Payne Named GAC Pitcher of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league's Players of the Week for the opening week of the 2016 baseball season. Southeastern Oklahoma State's Tim Hunter received the Player of the Week award and Harding's Hunter Payne claimed the Pitcher of the Week accolade.

GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tim Hunter, Southeastern Oklahoma State, SS, Jr., Austin, Texas

In his debut with the Savage Storm, Hunter went 4-for-7 with five walks as Southeastern took 2-out-of-3 from Texas A&M- International. He doubled and recorded a pair of RBIs in game two of the series and he scored twice in the finale. He posted a .750 on-base percentage for the weekend with a stolen base.

GAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Hunter Payne, Harding, RHP, Sr., Jasper, Alabama

Payne earned the victory against No. 11 St. Edward's as he surrendered only one run in 5.0 innings of work in his second career start in 43 appearances for the Bisons. He allowed only five hits while striking out two and walking a pair in the 5-1 triumph.

- Lane Norwood, So., RHP, Arkansas Tech (Registered 2.1 innings of scoreless relief vs No. 15 St. Mary's with two strikeouts)

- Scott Richards, Jr., LHP, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Threw 5.0 shutout IP vs Texas A&M International with four strikeouts)
