Jackson Ward Named GAC Pitcher of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league's Players of the Week recipients for the 10th week of the baseball season. Northwestern Oklahoma State's Cooper Stanley claimed the Player award and Harding's Jackson Ward won the Pitcher honor.

 

GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Cooper Stanley, Northwestern Oklahoma State, DH, Sr., Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
Stanley had the best week of his season as he led the Rangers to a 3-1 win, highlighted by their first GAC series sweep.  He went 8-for-17 at the plate with three home runs and a pair of doubles for a slugging percentage of 1.118. He scored seven runs and drove in eight. He entered the week having hit just one home run and driving in three RBI for the season

 

GAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jackson Ward, Harding, LHP, Jr., Lakeland, Tennessee

Ward carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of Harding's series finale against East Central. He surrendered his first hit one out on a single to right. He tied season high with seven strikeouts as he improved his record to 3-4 in his longest outing of his career, 6.1 innings. Harding moved up to sixth in the GAC standing with three weekends left in the regular season.

- Kaleb Matthews, Sr., IF, East Central (Hit .444 with a homer, a double and a triple against Harding)

- Jacob Richardon, Jr., 3B, Southern Arkansas (Extended hit streak to GAC-record 28; homered to set the record; hit. 412)

- Rogelio Sanchez, Jr., DH, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Batted .545 as SWOSU won series against Oklahoma Baptist)

- Travis Spinney, Jr., CF, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Went 5-for-11 with a home run in series against Arkansas Tech)

- Chris Taylor, Jr., OF, Harding (Hit .300, including a grand slam against East Central)

- Cody Wescott, Jr., 1B, Arkansas Tech (Homered three times in four games; slugged 1.071 and drove in five runs)

 

NOTABLE PITCHER NOMINEES                                          

- Dalton Algiene, Sr., RHP, Southern Arkansas (Improved to 9-1 as he registered 11 strikeouts in a win against Henderson State)

- Brandon Dusenberry, Jr., LHP, East Central (Struck out 10 in 6.0 innings pitches against Harding)

- Isaac Hale, So., RHP, Arkansas Tech (Tossed 6.0 scoreless innings against Southeastern Oklahoma State; struck out four)

- Jinny Parra, Sr., RHP, Oklahoma Baptist (Set school career wins record with 36th victory on Saturday; defeated SWOSU)

- Sean Rydell, Fr., RHP, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Earned his first collegiate win; defeated Southern Nazarene)
