David Walker

Walker will be in his fourth season as assistant women's basketball coach for the 2013-14 season.

Walker spent the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant with the University of Arkansas women’s basketball team. He helped lead the Lady Razorbacks to the third round in the 2010 WNIT.

A 2008 Harding graduate, Walker served the 2007-08 season as a student assistant with the Lady Bisons.


Walker transferred to Harding from the University of Oklahoma after spending two seasons on the Sooner football team and was a member of the 2002 Big 12 champions, 2003 Rose Bowl champions and the 2004 national runner-up team. He lettered one season on the football team at Harding, playing in 10 games on the offensive line.

Walker attended Fort Gibson (Okla.) High School and was a two-sport star, playing both football and basketball. On the hardwood, he earned All-Conference honors in leading Fort Gibson to a state tournament appearance as a senior.

Walker is the fourth generation of basketball coaches in his family. His father, Jerry, is the head girls basketball coach at Fort Gibson, and his brother, Jeff,  is the head girls basketball coach at Stigler High School in Oklahoma. His great grandfather L.E. Cargill is in the Oklahoma Coaches' Hall of Fame and grandfather Jerry L. Walker was a longtime high school coach at Fort Gibson.

Walker is married to the former Laura Merritt, a 2009 Harding graduate, and has one son, Beckham.
