SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team takes the floor this weekend in West Florida Classic, in Pensacola, Fla. Harding takes on Lynn 4 p.m., on Friday and host team West Florida on Saturday at 4 p.m.
COACHES: Harding is coached by Tim Kirby, who enters his fifth as at the helm of the Lady Bisons. Kirby has a 69-45 career record. Kirby took over the Lady Bison program before the 2005-06 season after serving 12 seasons as the Harding's men's basketball assistant.
Lynn is coached by Niki Washington who is in her first season as head coach of the Fighting Knights. Washington was the women's basketball assistant before taking the helm.
West Florida is coached by Shannan Bergen, who enters her 11th season at the helm of the Argonauts. Bergen has compiled a 149-126 overall record at West Florida.
THE LADY BISONS: Harding looks to snap a two game losing streak after falling to Midwestern State, 69-58 and Texas Woman's 74-70.
Harding is led by junior transfer Bailey St. Clair who is averaging 19.5 points per game. In two contests St. Clair has hit 14-of-19 from the floor and 11-of-12 from the free-throw line. Sophomore guard Kallie Bartee has come off the bench to lead the Lady Bisons on the boards averaging 5.5 rebounds per game.
Harding returns five players from the 2008-09 season. The Lady Bisons have eight new faces this year, seven of them are transfers. Six of the Harding newcomers have already made their debut for the Lady Bisons.
In two games, Harding has scored 42 points off their opponent's turnovers. The Lady Bisons have scored 72 of their 128 points in the paint.
THE FIGHTING KNIGHTS: Lynn calls Boca Ration, Fla., home and is a member of the Sunshine State Conference. The Fighting Knights were picked to finish seventh out of nine teams in the conference.
Lynn is coming off a 73-55 win over Florida Memorial this past Monday. In the contest, Lynn had five players that ended with double-figure scoring. Leading the way was Celsea Patterson and Kira Harvey who both had 16 points for the Fighting Knights.
ARGONAUTS: West Florida is a member of the Gulf South Conference East Division. The Argos were picked to finish fifth in the six team division in the conference preseason poll.
West Florida is coming off an 81-76 loss to Mobile this past Monday. Amy Drake led the Argos with 25 points and eight assists.
West Florida will take on Cameron Friday night before they take on the Lady Bisons on Saturday.
SERIES: Friday will mark the first time Harding and Lynn have met.
Harding is facing West Florida for the fourth straight year. The Lady Bisons have a 3-0 record against the Argos. Last season, Harding defeated West Florida 75-66.
