SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball looks for their third straight win Monday night as they host Gulf South Conference East Division foe West Alabama at 5:30 p.m., in the Rhodes Field House. Harding heads into the game with a 2-4 overall record.
COACHES: Harding is coached by Tim Kirby, who enters his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Bisons. Kirby has a 71-49 career record. Kirby took over the Lady Bison program before the 2005-06 season after serving 12 seasons as the Harding's men's basketball assistant.
West Alabama is coached by Amanda Marks, who enters her tenth season as the head coach of the Tigers. While at West Alabama, Marks has compiled a 125-99 record.
THE LADY BISONS: Harding had a great thanksgiving break, going 2-0 with wins over Central Baptist and GSC East Division foe West Georgia. In the two games, the Lady Bisons have beaten their opponent by an average of 34 points.
Harding has gone 1-1 against GSC East Division Teams. Earlier this season, Harding lost to West Florida.
St. Clair leads the Lady Bisons, averaging 17.5 points per game which ranks seventh in the GSC. She also averages 7.2 rebounds per game, ranking her 12th in the GSC. St. Clair is shooting a team high 59.3 percent from the floor. She also leads the GSC in steals per game with an average of 3.8.
Senior Stacey Owens is the other Lady Bison that averages double-figure scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game.
Harding returns five players from the 2008-09 season. The Lady Bisons have eight new faces this year, four of them are transfers. Six of the Harding newcomers have already made their debut for the Lady Bisons.
THE TIGERS: West Alabama is from Livingston, Ala., and is a member of the GSC East Division. West Alabama is coming off an 80-55 loss to GSC West Division foe Arkansas Tech this past Saturday night. The Tigers are 0-2 against the West Division.
The Tigers are led by freshman forward Brittany Yeager who averages 14.3 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. She is shooting 59.5 percent from the field this season. Yeager is coming off a 20 point outing against Arkansas Tech.
West Alabama ranks fourth in the GSC in block shots, averaging 4.33 a game. Yeager leads the team with eight.
SERIES: Harding is 4-3 all-time against West Alabama. The two teams met last year in the first round of the GSC tournament. The Lady Bisons won, 78-68. It will be the third meeting in Searcy. Both teams have won a game apiece. Harding won last meeting in Searcy, 99-54.
