Lady Bisons Take on North Alabama Tonight

SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball continues their two game road swing Monday, traveling to Florence, Ala., to face North Alabama. Due to the Harding men's team traveling to Monroe, Louisiana, tonight the women's game will start after the men's game.  The Lady Bisons look to extend their seven-game winning streak and look to improve on their 7-4 record.

COACHES: Harding is coached by Tim Kirby, who enters his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Bisons. Kirby has a 76-49 career record. Kirby took over the Lady Bison program before the 2005-06 season after serving 12 seasons as the Harding's men's basketball assistant.

North Alabama is coached by Terry Fowler, who is in his fourth season with the Lions.

THE LADY BISONS: Harding is coming off a 49-45 victory over Alabama-Huntsville Saturday to pick up their first road win of the season. Senior Stacey Owens picked up her first double-double of the season and led Harding in scoring with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

This it he final game before Harding kicks off Gulf South Conference action on Saturday Jan. 9th against Henderson State.

The Harding bench has really contributed this season, averaging 30.5 points per game for the Lady Bisons. Sophomore Sierra Rollins has come off the bench this season and giving the Lady Bisons a boost of energy. Rollins averages 5.2 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 2.1 steals per game.

During the seven-game winning streak, Harding has defeated their opponents by an average of 23.6 points.

The Lady Bisons are averaging 13.0 steals per game, ranking them second in the GSC and 40th in the NCAA. Junior Bailey St. Clair leads the GSC in steals per game with an average of 3.8. Over the past seven games the Lady Bisons are averaging 14.7 steals per game.

St. Clair leads the Lady Bisons, averaging 13.7 points per game which ranks her tenth in the GSC. She also averages 6.1 rebounds per game. St. Clair is shooting a team high 54.2 percent from the floor, which is fifth in the GSC.

Senior Stacey Owens is the other Lady Bison that averages double-figure scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game.

Harding returns five players from the 2008-09 season. The Lady Bisons have eight new faces this year, four of them are transfers. Six of the Harding newcomers have already made their debut for the Lady Bisons.

THE LIONS: North Alabama is coming off a disappointing loss to #24 Arkansas Tech this past Saturday night. The Lions led by as much as seven points in the second half but couldn't hold on. North Alabama is 4-8 on the season. They are 1-5 against GSC West Division teams. Their only win came against Henderson State.

North Alabama is a member of the Gulf South Conference East Division.  The Lions return four starters from last year's squad.

The Lions are led by Niala Harris who averages 12.7 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Jameica York also averages double-figures scoring averaging ten points per game.

SERIES:  Harding is 8-4 against North Alabama. The Lady Bisons have won the last two meetings between the two teams.
