SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Harding women's basketball team scores six unanswered points in overtime to defeat Incarnate Word 66-62 Friday night in San Antonio, Texas. Harding improves to 4-4 on the season and extends their winning streak to four games.
Stacey Owens led the Lady Bisons with 20 points. Owens got out to quick start, hitting 5-of-7 from the field and two three-pointers for 16 points in the first half.
A three-pointer by Nia Torru with 35 seconds left, gave Incarnate Word a two point lead. On the next possession, Sierra Rollins hit a layup with 14 seconds left to tie the game at 60 apiece. The Cardinals had one last chance for the win, but a missed three-pointer by Torru sent the game into overtime.
Rollins broke the tie in overtime hitting two straight free-throws. Elizabeth Nagel drove the lane and made a lay-up and was fouled. Nagel connected on the free-throw to give the Lady Bisons a five point lead with 1:39 left in overtime. Nagel was fouled with 31 seconds left and hit 1-of-2 three throws for a two possession lead. The Lady Bisons held the Cardinals scoreless in overtime as they missed all nine shots.
Rollins was the other Lady Bison in double-figure scoring adding 10 points and a team high nine rebounds. Bailey St. Clair had nine points and had seven rebounds.
Torru had a double-double on the night with 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinals. Jasmine Smith also had 12 points and seven rebounds for Incarnate Word.
The Lady Bisons took a 33-29 lead into the locker room.
Harding hit 14-of-18 from the free-throw line.
The Lady Bisons continue their road skid in Texas, traveling to Austin to take on St. Edward's Sunday at 1 p.m.
