Lady Bisons Pick up Win against Physical Henderson State

SEARCY – Junior guard Danielle Reiher hit two clutch free throws with 0.8 seconds left to give the Harding women's basketball team a 76-75 victory over Henderson State in Gulf South Conference action Saturday night. Harding improved to 8-5, 1-0 in the GSC West Division. The Lady Bisons improved to 6-4 in GSC openers.

Harding attempted 46 free throws in the contest and made 29, tying for tenth most made in a game. Junior guard Bailey St. Clair was perfect from the charity strip, hitting 12-12 on the night. She hit two crucial free throws with 10 seconds left to give the Lady Bisons a two-point lead.

Henderson State overcame a 12-point deficit and tied the game 72-72 when Danyelle Harris hit a three-pointer with 13 seconds left. With five seconds remaining in the game and down by two points, Harris a hit another three-pointer to give the Lady Reddies a one-point lead. With just under one second remaining, Henderson State fouled Reiher to set up the game-winning free throws.

St. Clair led the Lady Bisons with 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Reiher ended with a career high 13 points, hitting 2-of-4 from behind the three-point line.

Henderson State had five players that ended in double-figure scoring. Leading the way was Harris who had 16 points, hitting 4-of-6 from behind the three point line. Christina Hall and DeAndra Thomas finished with 12 points. Nyesha Adams ended with 11 points and Jazmine Ellis added 10 points.

The Lady Reddies had 31 fouls in the game with four players fouling out.

Henderson State out-rebounded Harding, 42-36.

The score was tied eight times and the lead changed hands 14 times.

The Lady Bisons are back in action Thursday, traveling to Magnolia, Ark., to face Southern Arkansas. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
