Lady Bisons Fall to SAU on Last Second Free Throw

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Raven Jones hit a 1-of-2 free throws with one second left to give Southern Arkansas a 59-58 victory over the Harding women's basketball team Thursday night in Gulf South Conference action. Harding falls to 8-6 on the season and 1-1 in the GSC West Division.

With 38 seconds remaining in the game, Kmaria Hobbs hit 1-of-2 free throws to put the Lady Muleriders up 58-56. Sixteen seconds later, senior guard Kaitlin Skinner hit a layup to tie the game 58-58. With the shot clocked turned off, Southern Arkansas ran down the clock to take the last shot. With two seconds left, Kmaria Hobbs missed a jumper but Jones grabbed the offensive rebound and was fouled to set up the game winning free throw.

Junior guard Bailey St. Clair led the Lady Bisons with 13 points, hitting 5-0f-6 from the free throw line.

Hobbs led the Lady Muleriders with 15 points, hitting 5-of-8 from the field. Cha'kia Lee also ended with double-figure scoring with 12 points. Lee was 4-of-9 from behind the three-point line.

Harding shot 32.8 percent from the field, only making 19-of-58 shots.

The Lady Bisons outrebounded the Lady Muleriders, 38-34.

Harding forced 19 Southern Arkansas turnovers with 14 steals.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action Saturday, hosting Arkansas Tech in Gulf South Conference action at 5:30 p.m., in the Rhodes Field House.
