Women’s Basketball Falls 58-65 to Christian Brothers

Stacey Owens picked up her 600th rebound in her career. She is only the sixth player in Harding women's basketball history to have over 1,000 points and 600 rebounds.

SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team fell to Christian Brothers 58-65 Thursday night in Gulf South Conference action. The Lady Bisons fall to 8-8 on the season and 1-3 in the GSC West Division.

Normanique Johnson hit a three-pointer with seven minutes remaining to give Christian Brothers their first lead of the game. Before the three-pointer, the Lady Bucs battled back from a 14 deficit. The Lady Bisons came within one point, two times but CBU quickly answered back both times. Christian Brothers hit 4-of-6 free throws down to stretch to seal the win.

Senior forward Stacey Owens led the Lady Bisons with 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Sophomore Sierra Rollins had two steals and two blocks to lead the Harding defense.

Tameka Wooten led CBU with 21 points, hitting 6-of-10 free throws. Sheena DeBose added 13 points. Jasmine Ellis had a double-double on the night with 12 points and 15 rebounds. She also added four blocks.

Harding outrebounded Christian Brothers, 39-33.

The Lady Bisons shot 36.4 percent from the field. In the second half, Harding only hit 3-of-17 layups.

Harding will be back in action Saturday, traveling to Arkansas-Monticello in GSC action. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
