Lady Bison Basketball Opens 2010-11 Season with Win over Central Baptist

SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team forced 35 turnovers and had 24 steals in an 81-46 win over Central Baptist on Monday night in the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons improved to 1-0 on the season and 19-9 in season openers.

Harding's 24 steals is the second-most ever in a game, trailing only the 27 steals against Arkansas Baptist in 2004.

Junior forward Cherilyn McMenamy, who made her Lady Bisons debut in the game, led Harding with 21 points, hitting 9-of-11 from the field and 2-of-3 from behind the three-point line. Junior guard Sierra Rollins had 14 points, hitting a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Senior guard Bailey St. Clair added 10 points and five steals.

Harding shot 24-of-53 from the field (46 percent) and held Central Baptist to only 11 field goals (26.8 percent).

The Lady Mustangs were led by Casey Williams with 10 points.

Harding closed out the first half on a 25-2 run and took a 45-22 lead into the locker room.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action Thursday as they host Lambuth at 5:30 p.m. at the Rhodes Field House.
