LIVINGSTON, Ala. – A late rally wasn't enough as the Harding women's basketball team fell to West Alabama 64-58 on Monday night in non-conference action. The Lady Bisons fall to 3-2 on the season.
The Lady Bisons went on a 10-2 run in the final three minutes of the game to pull within five points of the Lady Tigers but sophomore guard Dakota Powell hit both of her free throws to seal the victory for West Alabama (4-0).
Senior guard Mystee Dale hit 10-of-15 shots from the field and finished with 28 points to lead all scoring for West Alabama. She also hit 7-of-8 from the free throw line and had 23 of her 28 points in the first half.
Harding had a poor shooting night only making 19-of-66 (28 percent) shots from the field and 3-of-21 (14.3 percent) from behind the 3-point line.
Junior forward Cherilyn McMenamy led the Lady Bisons with 11 points. Junior guard Sierra Rollins finished with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman forward Lauren Harrison had a career-high 10 points for the Lady Bisons, hitting 4-of-6 from the field.
Harding won the rebounding battle, grabbing a season-high 46 to West Alabama's 40.
The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Jackson, Tenn., to face Lambuth at 2 p.m.
