SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball picked up their 25th straight non-conference home win Monday after defeating North Alabama 61-53 in the Rhodes Field House in Searcy, Ark. The Lady Bisons move to 15-10 on the season.
The last time the Lady Bisons lost a non-conference home game was against Gulf South Conference East Division opponent Alabama-Huntsville on Dec. 2, 2005.
Both teams shot less than 35 percent from the field in the first half but the Lady Bisons took a 28-17 lead into halftime. After the break, Harding began to get some momentum going up by as much as 10. The Lions went on a 7-0 run and pulled within four with 11 minutes remaining but the Lady Bisons stayed poised and never gave up the lead. In the closing minutes, Harding rallied to take a 10 point lead to seal the win.
Senior Stacey Owens led Harding with 17 points, hitting 10-of-13 from the free throw line. Junior Bailey St. Clair led the Lady Bisons on the boards, grabbing eight on the night and finished with 14 points. Sophomore's Sierra Rollins and Kallie Bartee each had four steals to the HU total of 12. Rollins also had three blocks for Harding.
Jameica York led North Alabama (15-13) with 17 points, hitting 8-of-12 from the free throw line. Dana Jackson finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Sanqueeta Meardith added 11 points for UNA.
Harding won the rebounding war, grabbing 38 to the Lions 35.
The Lady Bisons will be back in action Thursday hosting Delta State at 5:30 p.m., in the Rhodes Field House. It will be the final home game for the 2009-10 seniors and they will be recognized following the game.
