Lady Bison Basketball Falls to #9 Delta State on Senior Night

SEARCY – Despite sophomore Sierra Rollins scoring a career-high 25 points the Harding women's basketball team fell 79-65 to #9 Delta State on Thursday night in Gulf South Conference action. The Lady Bisons are still in third place in the West Division despite the loss. The top four teams go the GSC Tournament held March 4-7.

Rollins went 10-of-19 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. She also grabbed seven rebounds and had three steals for the Lady Bisons.

Harding kept the deficit under 10 points for most of the game but Delta State began to pull away on a Shameka Russell layup with 2:29 left to play. The Lady Bisons tried to rally but every attempt was stopped by the Lady Statesmen.

Sophomore Bailey St. Clair led the Lady Bisons in rebounds (8), assists (5) and steals (3). She also contributed 21 points for the Harding. Senior Stacey Owens also ended with double-figure scoring adding 11 points.

Delta State (22-2, 11-2 GSC) was led by led by Veronica Walker who captured a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Walker went 9-of-13 from the field in the game. Russell ended with 18 points for the Lady Statesmen. Bug Cooper and Moe Bell each finished with 14 points. Cooper also had 15 assists for the Lady Statesmen.

Delta State dominated the paint scoring 46 points to Harding's 34.

The Lady Bisons will play their final GSC regular season game Saturday as they travel Arkadelphia, Ark., to face Ouachita Baptist at 3 p.m.
