SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - The Harding men's tennis team opened its spring season with a 9-0 victory over John Brown on Wednesday. The victory moved the Bisons to 4-0 on the season and dropped the Eagles to 0-1. It was Harding's 32nd straight win over John Brown.
Harding did not lose a set in the match, and only once in singles did a John Brown player win more than one game.
Sophomore
Henrique Ruiz improved to 3-1 at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Tim Meyer. Freshman
Adam Edwards moved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Eric Engstrom. Freshman
Sammy Lhotak remained perfect on the season at 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Ethan Jones at No. 3.
Sophomore
Aldo Campos moved to 3-0 on the season with an easy 6-0, 6-1 pasting of Carlin Toews at No. 4, and freshmen Cory Stumne (No. 5) and
Ben Bradley (No. 6) both won their collegiate singles debuts with straight-sets victories.
Edwards and Ruiz improved to 2-0 as a No. 1 doubles team with an 8-0 shutout of Jones and Toews. Campos and Stumne won in their first time to team together with an 8-2 score at No. 2 doubles, and Lhotak and Bradley teamed for the first time at No. 3 and collected an 8-1 victory over Wiens and Lacayo.
Harding's next outing is Monday, Feb. 8 in Arkadelphia, Ark., as the Bisons take on sixth-ranked Ouachita Baptist.
