Back at it: HU Men's Soccer Meets Williams Baptist

Harding returns after a 10-day break

Harding takes on Williams Baptist on Tuesday.

SEARCY – Two teams looking for their first victory of the season will square off Tuesday as the Harding men's soccer team travels to Walnut Ridge, Ark., to meet Williams Baptist. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Harding (0-1) has had a 10-day break since opening its season with a 2-0 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic in Searcy. Bison senior forward Connor Galloway, who led Harding with seven goals last season, was injured in the game, and his availability is in doubt for Tuesday.

The Bisons received solid goalkeeper play from senior Will Reno in the opener. Reno, a native of Midlothian, Texas, had eight saves in the game.

Williams Baptist (0-2) has been held scoreless in two close games to open its season. The Eagles, members of the NAIA American Southwest Conference, dropped their opener 2-0 to Central Baptist and lost 1-0 to Freed-Hardeman on Friday. Williams Baptist has been outshot 48-15 in the two games, including 30-3 in the second half.

Harding and Williams Baptist will be meeting for the eighth time. The Bisons have won all seven previous meetings and have outscored the Eagles 45-5 in those games. This will be the fourth meeting in Walnut Ridge, but the first since Harding won 7-1 in 2003.
