SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team continues Great American Conference action on Tuesday as they host Arkansas-Monticello at 7 p.m., in the Rhodes Field House. It will be “Play for the Cure” night as the Lady Bisons will be wearing pink jerseys for Breast Cancer awareness month.
After a 1-1 record last week in the GAC, Harding remains second in the GAC standings. The regular season conference champion will host the conference tournament.
The Lady Bisons (18-6 overall and 9-2 GAC) are led by sophomore outside hitter Mollie Arnold who averages 3.93 kills (third in the GAC) and 3.54 digs per set (ninth in the GAC). Sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Short continues to lead HU with hitting with a .303 hitting percentage (fifth in the GAC).
The Harding defense is led by sophomore defensive specialist Weslynn Williams who averages 4.44 digs per set (fifth in the GAC).
As a team, the Lady Bisons lead the GAC in digs (17.73 per set).
Arkansas-Monticello heads into the match with a 3-18 overall record and a 1-8 GAC record. The Cotton Blossoms are led by Amy Klypas who averages 2.88 kills per set. Christina Jacinto leads the defense averaging 3.50 digs per set.
Harding leads the series over Arkansas-Monticello 12-0. When the two teams played in Monticello, Ark., earlier this season, the Lady Bisons defeated the Cotton Blossoms 3-0.
Before and after the match, Harding will be selling black and pink t-shirts for $10. 100% of the proceeds will go to local families that are struggling with cancer.
