SEARCY – Harding sophomore Ryan Wilhelm has a flair for the dramatic.

Wilhelm scored his second goal of the season, both game-winners, in the second minute of the second overtime to give the Bisons a 1-0 victory over Delta State in Gulf South Conference men's soccer action at the Harding Soccer Field.

Harding junior midfielder Jackson Savage took possession just on the Bisons' side of midfield, dribbled forward and slid a perfect pass to Wilhelm, making a run down the left side. Wilhelm took one touch and beat Delta State goalkeeper Flavio Romero near post.

It was Wilhelm's first goal since the season-opener against Lynn, which also came from Savage and was nearly an identical play.

Savage has four assists in the last two games and leads Harding with five overall.

Harding improved to 6-9-1 overall and 1-2-0 with the victory. The Bisons moved into fourth in the GSC standings. The top four teams qualify for the GSC Tournament.

Harding has won its last three, giving the team its first three-game winning streak since 2003. It was also the fifth home victory for the Bisons this season, tying the school record for home wins set in 2002.

The Bisons had 21 shots, 10 on-goal, while the Statesmen had only 14 shots, four on-goal. Harding goal keeper Zach Auala made four saves for his second shutout of the season.

Harding will look to continue is run of success Sunday when it hosts 21st-ranked Christian Brothers at 3:30 p.m.
