SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team held Central Baptist to eight field goals as they defeated the Lady Mustangs 80-30 on Monday night in non-conference action at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons improved to 3-2 on the season.
The Harding defense set three school records in the game – fewest field goals made by an opponent (eight), fewest points by an opponent (30) and lowest shooting percentage by an opponent (16.7). The Lady Bisons also forced 29 turnovers on 15 steals and had four blocks. Freshman guard Tabitha Haney led the Lady Bisons with a career-high four steals.
The Lady Bisons had five players that finished in double-figure scoring, including three setting career highs. Freshman guard Shana Holmes had 13 and sophomore guard Katy Preaus also finished with a career-high 13 points. Freshman forward Arielle Saunders tied a career-high with 12 points and captured a career-high 10 rebounds to capture her first collegiate double-double. Senior guard Sierra Rollins had 12 and freshman forward Montana Lewis had a career-high 10.
Central Baptist (2-6) was led by Porchia Allen who had seven points and five rebounds.
Harding grabbed a season-high 58 rebounds (28 offensive). It was the fourth most in school history.
The Lady Bisons will have the week off before hosting Christian Brothers on Dec. 6 and 5:30 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House.
