Harding Men Down Champion Baptist in Home Opener

SEARCY – Harding had five players score 10 or more points and the Bisons won their 36th straight home opener Thursday with a 92-60 victory over Champion Baptist at the Rhodes Field House.

Harding (3-1) used its size advantage to control the action on the inside and win its third straight overall and seventh straight all-time against Champion Baptist. The Bisons outscored the Tigers 52-10 in the paint and held a 43-28 rebound advantage.

The Bisons led by as many as 18 points in the first half and took a 47-30 lead into halftime. Harding extended the lead to 42 points on a 3-pointer by Andrew Silverman with 4:22 left in the game.

Junior Bradley Spencer led Harding with 15 points and sophomore Weston Jameson added 13. Junior Zach Roddenberry, junior DeAntra Scott and senior Kirk Porter each had 10 points. Porter led the Bisons with seven rebounds, and Spencer and Jameson each had five assists.

Harding, who had not lost a home opener since 1975, shot 58 percent from the field and made nine 3-pointers for the fourth straight game.

Sophomore Brandon Likins led Champion Baptist (5-9) with 32 points and 13 rebounds. The only other Tiger in double figures was Mo Capaci, who had 15 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Harding returns to the Rhodes Field House to host Central Baptist on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
