Women’s Basketball Defeats St. Edward’s 66-56

SEARCY – Five players finished in double-figure scoring as the Harding women's Basketball team defeated St. Edward's 66-56 on Saturday in non-conference action. The Lady Bisons improved to 5-2 on the season.

Senior guard Sierra Rollins captured her third double-double on the season as she led the Lady Bisons with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Rollins was perfect from the line hitting 7-of-7. Senior guard Kallie Bartee hit 3-of-5 from behind the 3-point line and finished with a season-high 12 points. Freshman Arielle Saunders had 11 points. Sophomore forward Kristen Celsor and freshman guard Montana Lewis each had 10 points for the Lady Bisons.

Harding played solid defense in the game forcing St. Edward's to shooting 34 percent from the field (18-of-53). The Lady Bisons only allowed the Hilltoppers to grab 28 rebounds in the game. It was the fewest rebounds by an opponent this season.

After taking a 31-28 lead into the halftime, the Lady Bisons opened the second half with a 10-1 run to take a 32-35 lead with 11:55 left in the game. Harding extended their lead by as much has 20 at the 5:18 mark when sophomore forward Kristen Celsor hit a layup to put the Lady Bisons ahead 63-43. The Hilltoppers battled back in the closing minutes and cut the lead to 10 on a Maddie Wheeler 3-pointer with one second remaining in the game.

St. Edward's (3-9) was led by Kelsee Barr who had 12 points. Dawn Kiel was the other Hilltopper in double-figures with 10. SEU had 11 steals in the game, led by Shaniqua Dekkers who had five.

St. Edward's hit 7-of-17 from behind the 3-point line (41.2 percent). It was the third most by an opponent this season.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Sunday as they host Saint Mary's at 1 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House. Game Notes
