Women’s Basketball Drops First of Two in Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Harding women's basketball team fell to Texas Woman's 52-62 on Friday in the opening round of the West Florida Classic. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak by the Lady Bisons.

After trailing by 12 in the middle of the second half, the Lady Bisons (6-3) rallied to pull within five with 2:52 remaining on two field goals and three free throws. Harding then went 0-for-3 in the closing minutes as the Pioneers hit two layups and made four free throws to seal the victory.

Texas Woman's held the Lady Bisons to shooting 30.9 percent from the field (17-of-55) and 22 percent from behind the 3-point line (4-of-18). The Pioneers also forced 17 turnovers and had 11 steals.

The Lady Bisons were led by sophomore forward Kristen Celsor who had 11 points, grabbed a season-high eight rebounds, had two steals and one block. Senior guard Sierra Rollins added 12 points for Harding.

Texas Woman's (8-3) was led by Brittney Nuzum who made 6-of-9 from the field, including three 3-pointers for a game-high 16 points.
