Lady Bisons Travel to Delta State on Saturday

SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team continues Gulf South Conference action on Saturday as they travel to Cleveland, Miss., to face No. 3 Delta State at 4 p.m.

NOTES FOR THE GAME

Harding enters the game with a 14-6 overall record and a 5-3 GSC West Division record after falling to Ouachita Baptist 83-73 last Thursday.

Junior guard Sierra Rollins leads the Lady Bisons, averaging 14.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. In GSC play, Rollins is averaging 17.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.

Senior guard Bailey St. Clair averages 12.4 points per game. St. Clair has also stepped up her game in conference play averaging 15.9 points per game.

The Lady Bisons have been hitting the offensive boards. Harding grabs an offensive rebound 40.3 percent of the time, ranking them first in the GSC.

During conference play, Harding ranks first in the GSC in free throw percentage (74.9). The Lady Bisons have made 164 free throws, more than anyone else in conference action, and average 20.5 a game.

Harding is coached by Tim Kirby, who is in his 6th season as head coach of the Lady Bisons. He has compiled a 101-62 record at Harding.

Delta State

Delta State heads into the game with a 19-1 overall record and a 7-1 GSC West Division record. The Lady Statesmen only loss came against Harding earlier this season. Delta State has won their last five straight games and defeated Southern Arkansas 87-40 last Saturday.

Delta State ranks in the top 10 in the NCAA Division II in six categories. The Lady Statemen rank second in scoring defense (51.8 percent), sixth in scoring margin (20.7), third in field goal percentage (47.9), eighth in rebounding margin (9.0), seventh in 3-point field goal percentage defense (24.9), and seventh in assist turnover ratio (1.18).

The Lady Statesmen are led by Veronica Walker who averages 17.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Sheena Johnson also averages in double figures with 10.3 points per game.

The Series

Delta State leads the series 19-3. Harding won the last meeting, 69-66.
