ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Baptist shot 50.9 percent from the field as they defeated the Harding women's basketball team 83-73 Thursday night in Gulf South Conference action. The Lady Bisons fall to 14-6 on the season and 5-3 in the GSC West Division.
The loss drops Harding to the fourth spot in the GSC West Division as the top four teams advanced to the conference tournament in March.
The Lady Tigers (15-5, 6-2 GSC) made 29-of-57 shots from the field. OBU also made 19-of-24 free throws (79.2 percent). Ouachita Baptist held Harding to 41.3 percent from the field (26-of-62) including 26.3 percent from behind the 3-point line (5-of-19).
The two teams fought to take the lead in the opening seven minutes of the game but a lay-up by Domino Miller put OBU on top 9-7 and the Lady Tigers never relinquish their lead the rest of the way.
Ouachita Baptist had five players that scored in double-figures. A'Leashia Adams made 6-of-12 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line to finish with 20 points to lead the Lady Tigers. Miller shot 6-of-10 from the field and scored 14 points. Beulah Osueka and Nashia James each scored 12 points and Gabby Coleman scored 11 points.
Harding had four players score in double-figures. Senior guard Bailey St. Clair led the Lady Bisons making 8-of-10 free throws and finished with 18 points. Junior Guard Sierra Rollins captured her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Brittany Gottsponer scored a career-high 11 points and freshman forward Kristen Celsor scored 10 points.
Ouachita Baptist scored 44 points in the paint, 20 in the first half and 24 in the second.
Harding has Saturday off and will be back in action Feb. 10 as they host Southern Arkansas in Searcy at 5:30 p.m.
