MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Christian Brothers substitute Jose Ferraz scored a goal in the 34th minute to give the Bucs a 1-0 victory over Harding in non-conference men's soccer action Sunday at Signiago Field. Both teams are members of the Gulf South Conference in men's soccer, but Sunday's game was a non-conference contest. The teams meet again in Searcy on Oct. 21 in conference action.
Ferraz, a freshman from Brazil, entered the game in the 26th and scored just over eight minutes later on a header off a feed from sophomore midfielder Ralph Velasco. It was Ferraz's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Christian Brothers (4-2-0) outshot Harding 14-7 overall, but the Bisons held a 5-4 advantage in the second half. Harding's two shots on goal came from Josh Ireland and Ian Park, but Christian Brothers goalkeeper Jaime Garcia made saves on both. Garcia earned his second shutout of the season.
Harding goalkeeper Zach Auala made four saves, two in each half.
The Bisons (3-3-1) were playing their third game of a four-game road trip that concludes Tuesday against NAIA foe John Brown in Siloam Springs, Ark.
