ADA, Okla. – Harding junior Zach Roddenberry scored 23 points and sophomore Hayden Johnson added a career-high 22 to lead the Bisons to a 78-71 victory over East Central in Great American Conference play Thursday at the Kerr Center.
Harding (7-5, 2-0) won its third straight and remained unbeaten in GAC play. It was the Bisons' first win in Ada since 1998.
Johnson scored Harding's first 10 points, and the Bisons shot 67 percent in the first half to lead 49-39 at halftime. Roddenberry controlled the low post throughout the game, shot 11-of-15 from the field, and led Harding with seven rebounds.
East Central (3-10, 0-3) lost its fourth straight and remained winless in five home games.
The Tigers cut the Bisons' lead to three at 56-53 with 12:55 left on a Darnell Davis layup. Harding then went on an 11-2 run that included five points from Bison freshman Demoine Brown. East Central whittled the lead back down to five twice but got no closer.
Senior Caprest Rhone led East Central with 16 points and six assists.
Harding plays the second game of their current three-game road trip Saturday at Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
