SEARCY – After a three-game road trip, the Harding women's basketball team hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons head into the game with a 9-5 overall record and a 2-2 GAC record.
Harding went 1-2 in their road trip. The Lady Bisons opened the trip with a 65-49 win over East Central but struggled against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Ouachita Baptist. Harding is 5-0 on the season at home.
The Lady Bisons are led by senior guard Sierra Rollins who averages 15.7 points (third in the GAC) and 9.9 rebounds a game (first in the GAC). Rollins is coming off an 18 point, 17 rebound performance against Ouachita Baptist. It was her seventh double-double of the season.
Harding ranks first in the GAC in scoring defense (58.3). HU is second in the conference in four categories – free throw percentage (74.1), field goal percentage defense (35.9), rebounding margin (+7.9) and blocked shots (3.7).
Southeastern Oklahoma State heads into Saturday with a 7-8 overall record and a 3-2 GAC record after falling to No. 9 Arkansas Tech 61-55 last Thursday night in Russellville, Ark. The Savage Storm has three players that average over 10 points per game, leading the way is Whitney Coffey who averages 12.0 points. Nikki Nester averages 10.8 points and Ashley Hobbs averages 10.1. Hobbs also leads SOSU on the boards, averaging 6.7 rebounds a game.
Neither team has an advantage in the series, as it is tied at two. SOSU leads the series in Searcy 2-1. The last meeting came in 2000 as the Lady Bisons defeated the Savage Storm 56-55 in Searcy.
