Lady Bison Basketball host Henderson State on Saturday

SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team will play their third game this week on Saturday as they host Henderson State at 5:30 p.m., in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons head into the game in second place in the conference standings with a 5-2 record in the GAC.

Harding (12-5 overall) has won their last three conference games.  HU's winning streak began last Saturday as they defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State 60-56 in Searcy. The Lady Bisons then upset, then ranked No. 9, Arkansas Tech 77-69. Their last win came against Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday as they defeated the Cotton Blossoms 67-44.

During the win streak, Harding is shooting 45.7 percent from the field and averaging seven 3-pointers a game. HU is also averaging 17.3 assists per game. Before the streak, HU was averaging 13.7 assists per game.

HU is led by senior guard Sierra Rollins who averages 15.1 points (fourth in the GAC) and 9.2 rebounds (second in the GAC).  Sophomore forward Kristen Celsor has really come on as of late, averaging 22.0 points for the Lady Bisons in the last three games. Celsor has led Harding in scoring in the last two games (27 against Arkansas Tech and 21 against Arkansas-Monticello).

Harding ranks first in the GAC in scoring defense (57.9) and assist-to-turnover margin (0.9). HU is second in the conference in two other categories – 3-point field goal made (6.2) and rebounding margin (+7.4).

Henderson State heads into the game with an 11-6 overall record and a 4-3 GAC record. After starting conference action with a 4-0 record, the Lady Reddies have lost their last three. HSU fell to Arkansas Tech 63-80, Ouachita Baptist 57-89 and Southern Arkansas 68-74.

The Lady Reddies have two players that average in double-figure scoring. Cheree Freeman leads the way, averaging 14.3 points and 4.8 rebounds. Crystal Harrison averages 10.4 points.
