Box Score BOLIVAR, Mo. – Southwest Baptist junior forward Kaleb Romero scored in the 90th minute following a saved penalty kick and the Bearcats tied Harding 1-1 in MIAA action Thursday.
After a scoreless first half, Harding (4-7-3, 2-3-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute. Sophomore
Jona Amssoms' throw-in from deep in the attacking end was hammered home by senior
Jackson Savage. It was Savage's third goal of the season and Amssoms' first assist.
The lead lasted into the game's final minute.
Harding committed a foul inside the Southwest Baptist 18-yard box with 33 seconds remaining. Bison goalkeeper
Chase Keeney saved Romero's ensuing penalty kick, but Romero tapped in the rebound to tie the game.
Harding's only shot in the two 10-minute overtimes came from Amssoms with just under a minute left in the first overtime.
Harding earned one point in the conference standings for the tie and has seven points (three points for a win, one for a tie). The Bisons remain in fifth place in the MIAA, five points behind Fort Hays State for the fourth and final berth in the conference tournament. Southwest Baptist (2-9-1, 0-5-1) earned its first point in conference play.
Harding has four MIAA games remaining. The Bisons next meet conference leaders Lindenwood on Saturday in St. Charles, Mo.
