SEARCY – Riding a five-game winning streak, Harding men's basketball will play the third and final game of its home stand Thursday against Ouachita Baptist at Rhodes Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game will air live on KVHU-95.3 FM in Searcy and on HardingSports.com.
Harding and Ouachita Baptist are meeting for the second time this season, and it could be argued that the first meeting was the turning point of the season for both teams.
Harding (13-8, 8-3) traveled to Arkadelphia on Jan. 19 and was playing its third straight road game. The Bisons opened the trip with a victory over East Central but then lost to Southwestern Oklahoma and trailed by as many as 18 points early in the second half before falling 67-60 to Ouachita Baptist.
Since the loss to the Tigers, the Bisons have won six of seven and are one of three teams remaining with a chance to win the Great American Conference. Harding trails only Henderson State (10-2) and Arkansas Tech (9-2) with five games remaining.
Ouachita Baptist's season has taken a different turn since its victory over Harding. The Tigers lost their next five games and six of their next seven. Ouachita Baptist (12-10, 5-7) snapped its skid with a 70-57 victory at Southern Arkansas but lost its last game 71-55 at home against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Harding is coming off a 79-76 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday at Rhodes Field House. The Bisons, who now lead the GAC in field goal percentage, shot 67 percent from the field against the Bulldogs, the second-best shooting effort in program history.
Harding will play its final home game next Monday against Arkansas Tech.
