Basketball Bisons Host 20th-Ranked Arkansas Tech on Senior Night

Kirk Porter will play his final home game as a Bison on Monday.
SEARCY – Harding men's basketball will play its final home game of the 2011-12 season against 20th-ranked Arkansas Tech at Rhodes Field House. There is a lot on the line for the Bisons besides the fact that it is the final home game for Bison seniors Kirk Porter and Andrew Silverman.

Harding (13-10, 8-5) has lost its last two games but remains in third place in the nine-team Great American Conference. The Bisons have already clinched a berth at the GAC Tournament on March 1-4 in Bartlesville, Okla., and could still tie for the conference championship. Harding is three games behind leaders Arkansas Tech with three games remaining. The Bisons are also one game ahead of fourth-place Arkansas-Monticello.

Junior forward Zach Roddenberry has continued to perform well of late for the Bisons. Roddenberry, Harding's leading scorer at 14.6 points per game, scored a career-high 34 points Thursday against Southeastern Oklahoma State. It was the first 30-point game by a Harding player this season and the most points scored by a Bison since Stephen Blake scored 34 against Southern Arkansas last season.

Arkansas Tech enters the game 19-4 overall and 11-2 in GAC play. The Wonder Boys have won their last eight games, the longest current streak in the GAC. Arkansas Tech has a one-game lead over Henderson State atop the conference standings.

The Wonder Boys are led by senior Johnie Davis, the GAC's leading scorer at 19.9 points per game.

Harding and Arkansas Tech are playing for the second time this season. The Wonder Boys defeated the Bisons 69-57 on Jan. 23 in Russellville. Harding made only six field goals in the first half and missed all nine 3-point attempts and was never able to recover. Porter led Harding with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Porter has played in 110 games as a Bison and scored 924 points. He has averaged 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in his career.

Silverman, who transferred to Harding from Central Arkansas to play his senior season, has appeared in 19 games with three starts. He averages 5.5 points and 2.1 rebounds.
